Cuando hombres armados irrumpieron en su aldea sudanesa, Aicha Madar, de 50 años, huyó con su hija Fátima y se unió a otros miles que cruzaron la frontera hacia el este de Chad.
“Los grupos armados lo quemaron todo”, dice Aicha, sentada junto a un grupo de refugiados y arrullando a su hija de un año en su regazo.
“Aquí no tenemos nada ya que lo perdimos todo allá”, dice.

Victoria recibe a diario llamadas de mujeres pidiendo auxilio para escapar de la violencia de género en sus hogares. Ella es psicóloga en la Casa Matilde, una casa de acogida para mujeres sobrevivientes de la violencia basada en género (en adelante VBG).
Cuando escuchó disparos de madrugada, Christina se despertó y escondió para protegerse y al bebé en su vientre.
“Me acosté boca abajo a pesar de que estaba embarazada”, dijo. “Pasé todo el día escondida bajo mi cama. Ellos se pasaron todo el día disparando”.
Cuenta Christina que a pesar de los disparos se dirigió a la puerta.
Llegar caminando a la cima de la montaña donde vive Santos Dionisio Hernández nos toma un buen tiempo, subiendo por un camino pedregoso después de pasar dos ríos. Aquí no entran vehículos y, por ende, tampoco salen.
