En Centroamérica, la canícula es un periodo de sequía que solía durar entre 15 y 20 días entre las dos temporadas de lluvias (mayo-junio y agosto-noviembre). En los últimos años, la canícula ha comenzado a durar entre 40 y 50 días.

ROMA – El número de personas que experimentan inseguridad alimentaria aguda y requieren asistencia alimentaria, nutricional y de subsistencia urgente aumentó por cuarto año consecutivo en 2022, con más de 250 millones enfrentando hambre aguda y personas en siete países al borde de la inanición, según a lo último Informe mundial sobre las crisis alimentarias (disponible en inglés).
La mayoría de los visitantes que llegan a Lima se dirigen inmediatamente al sur hacia las místicas líneas de Nazca y los Andes, en busca de ruinas incas y alpacas esponjosas con pompones de colores brillantes.

Mientras me preparo para salir de mi casa para ir a trabajar, a menudo pienso qué es lo que nos hace humanitarios. La emergencia COVID-19 le ha dado una vuelta a mi vida.
La idea
— ¿Por qué no criamos gallinas? — Porque no tenemos capital semilla.
— ¿Qué es capital semilla? — Dinero para comprar las gallinas, los alimentos y adecuarles un espacio.
— ¡Entonces pidamos un préstamo en el banco!
"A pesar de una situación de seguridad excepcionalmente compleja, WFP está dando los primeros pasos importantes para volver a poner en marcha las cadenas de suministro humanitario y suministrar la ayuda que se necesita desesperadamente a los barrios más difíciles de Puerto Príncipe", declaró Jean-Martin Bauer, director de WFP en Haití.
