El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) es la organización humanitaria líder que salva vidas y cambia vidas, brindando asistencia alimentaria en emergencias y trabajando con las comunidades para mejorar la nutrición y crear resiliencia.
El Premio Nobel de la Paz reconoce a WFP “por sus esfuerzos en la lucha contra el hambre, por su contribución a mejorar las condiciones para la paz en zonas afectadas por conflictos y por actuar como fuerza impulsora en los esfuerzos para prevenir el uso del hambre como arma de guerra y conflicto”.
Alcanzar el Hambre Cero y eliminar la inseguridad alimentaria que perjudica la vida de más de 800 millones de personas en todo el mundo requiere el trabajo de muchas personas.
La situación de la seguridad sigue siendo muy precaria. WFP está considerando lugares en los que el acceso humanitario esté asegurado así como todo lo relacionado con la seguridad, la capacidad y el acceso.
El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) es gobernado por la Junta Ejecutiva del WFP, la cual forman 36 estados miembros y ofrece apoyo, dirección y supervisión intergubernamental a las actividades del WFP.

Los programas de alimentación escolar bien diseñados e implementados sobre la base de una nutrición de origen local tienen un impacto positivo en la nutrición infantil y en la salud, en la asistencia escolar y el aprendizaje, en la productividad e ingresos de los pequeños agricultores, y en la creación de empleo y el desarrollo del sector privado.
La mayoría de los visitantes que llegan a Lima se dirigen inmediatamente al sur hacia las místicas líneas de Nazca y los Andes, en busca de ruinas incas y alpacas esponjosas con pompones de colores brillantes.
“Este conflicto ha tenido un impacto tremendo en el pueblo sirio. Cada día, más y más sirios son empujados al hambre y la pobreza más profundas”, dijo Sean O’Brien, Representante del WFP y Director de País en Siria. “Las familias se enfrentan a opciones imposibles: ¿ponen comida en la mesa o reciben la atención médica que necesitan? ¿O pueden enviar a sus hijos a la escuela?
