Cuando conduces por el exuberante paisaje tropical de El Salvador, es difícil distinguir si te encuentras en una zona segura o en una peligrosa. A primera vista, las zonas rurales parecen más seguras. El ganado pasta en los campos y los niños juegan al aire libre en los caminos de tierra.
El estudio del PMA incluye a cuatro países del istmo centroamericano: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras y Nicaragua.

Elia Martínez nunca pensó que su contrato por ocho meses para un proyecto pequeño de micronutrientes hace 12 años fuese el inicio de una gran carrera humanitaria en WFP.
Esta nutricionista y salubrista se inclinó desde muy joven por el voluntariado y la nutrición.
Los paquetes comprenden alimentos para siete días, consistentes en 10 libras de arroz, cinco libras de frijoles y dos litros de aceite vegetal y están destinados a las familias del municipio El Rama, Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Sur (RACCS), que sufrió fuertes inundaciones tras el impacto del huracán de categoría 1.

El plato de comida caliente que les sirven en la escuela es nutritivo y les da energía para aprender y jugar juntos. También incentiva a las familias a enviar a sus hijos e hijas a la escuela.

A la fecha, más de 1 millón de migrantes venezolanos y alrededor de 300.000 colombianos retornados se encuentran en Colombia. En el Ecuador, entre enero y noviembre de 2018, han ingresado casi 2.5 veces más venezolanos que el total registrado en 2016 y 2017.
El jocote — del náhualt xocotl ‘fruta' — crece desde México hasta Brasil y también se le conoce con otros nombres (ciruela, yoyomo, traqueadora, jobito, entre otros).
