Los colegas nos informan que la Hepatitis A es la enfermedad número uno en Gaza. También hay una abundancia de enfermedades diarreicas debido a la falta de cualquier tipo de saneamiento.
Las distribuciones de alimentos en Gaza y Cisjordania se están realizando en respuesta al aumento de las necesidades tras la fuerte escalada del conflicto, que hasta la fecha ha provocado el desplazamiento de casi 264.000 personas en Gaza.

Mientras lamentamos esta terrible pérdida, tenemos presente que cada uno de estos colegas de WFP estaba dispuesto a viajar y trabajar lejos de sus hogares y seres queridos para ayudar a hacer del mundo un mejor lugar para vivir.
“El suministro de alimentos y agua es prácticamente inexistente en Gaza y sólo una fracción de lo que se necesita llega a través de las fronteras. Con el invierno acercándose rápidamente, refugios inseguros y superpoblados y la falta de agua potable, los civiles se enfrentan a la posibilidad inmediata de morir de hambre", dijo Cindy McCain, directora ejecutiva de WFP.
El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) está almacenando 310 toneladas métricas de alimentos en la frontera de Gaza, listos para ser enviados a las personas que los necesitan desesperadamente, tan pronto como se conceda el acceso humanitario.
Un grupo de niños y niñas nos miran fijamente, con curiosidad. Ya se han acostumbrado a la presencia del personal del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) y sus vehículos blancos todo terreno que entran y salen del asentamiento en que viven a las afueras de Kabul.
Solo que esta misión no es para entregar alimentos ni para registrar a nadie.
