El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) es la organización humanitaria líder que salva vidas y cambia vidas, brindando asistencia alimentaria en emergencias y trabajando con las comunidades para mejorar la nutrición y crear resiliencia.
Los equipos del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés) en el Caribe están evaluando los impactos del huracán Beryl que azotó Jamaica el miércoles por la tarde como un peligroso huracán de categoría 4.
“Estamos preparándonos activamente para la llegada del huracán Beryl en las próximas 24 horas. La preparación es clave y cada minuto cuenta en este momento.
Tras el terremoto de magnitud 6,3 que sacudió la provincia de Herat, en el oeste de Afganistán, el sábado 7 de octubre, el Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) está sobre el terreno prestando ayuda a los supervivientes.
WFP se está viendo obligado a recortar drásticamente las raciones en la mayoría de sus operaciones a medida que la financiación humanitaria internacional cae en picada.
Esta contribución marca un hito histórico, ya que es una de las primeras veces que Mongolia dona fondos a WFP, reafirmando así su solidaridad internacional y su compromiso con el Hambre Cero.

La Política del WFP en material de personal, aprobada en junio de 2021, proporciona un marco para la excelencia en la gestión de personas y para establecer la responsabilidad mutua entre la organización, sus directivos y todos sus empleados.
La asistencia alimentaria del WFP consiste en la entrega de efectivo, por un monto de US$ 240 por familia, que permitirá cubrir la mitad del valor de los alimentos y bebidas de la canasta básica por un periodo de dos meses.
Según los datos del último Informe de Seguridad Alimentaria de Ecuador, cerca de dos millones de personas se encuentran en situación de inseguridad alimentaria
El Programa de Asistencia en Efectivo Beryl está destinado a 11.500 personas cuyas viviendas fueron dañadas o destruidas por el huracán Beryl a principios de julio. El programa brindará socorro y apoyo a las familias en su recuperación, asegurando el acceso a alimentos, agua y otras necesidades esenciales.
