LIMA. –Como país de ingresos medios altos, Perú ha aprovechado su importante crecimiento económico en la última década para invertir en medidas de preparación ante desastres.
Mediante el Convenio Específico el IICA y el PMA han acordado ejecutar el Proyecto “Promoviendo la Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional en los Distritos de Carquín, Huaura y Végueta, provincia de Huaura, Lima” – PROSAN.

(12 de febrero de 2008) -El Programa Mundial de Alimentos de las Naciones Unidas pone a circular hoy el Atlas del Hambre y la Desnutrición en la República Dominicana, un estudio que arroja datos sobre la incidencia de desnutrición infantil crónica desagregados por provincias y por municipios.
Recursos más exiguos, diferentes prioridades de los donantes y cambios en los mecanismos de financiación de algunos países se han confabulado para crear un déficit de financiación y comprometer los programas. A no ser que lleguen fondos el próximo mes, más de medio millón de niños en Camerún, Mali, Mauritania y Níger podrían empezar el año escolar sin las comidas de las que dependen.
“El mundo ya se enfrenta a tres crisis de proporciones devastadoras que convirtieron a miles de niños, agricultores y comerciantes en refugiados”, dijo la Directora Ejecutiva del PMA, Ertharin Cousin, un día después de haber visitado el campamento de refugiados Zaatari en Jordania.
"El frente de batalla contra el coronavirus se está moviendo del mundo rico al mundo pobre", dijo David Beasley, Director Ejecutivo del WFP.
“Hasta el día que tengamos una vacuna médica, los alimentos son la mejor vacuna contra el caos.
Lena: juventud e innovación en la asistencia humanitaria
Al terminar la universidad, Lena Schubmann decidió emprender un viaje desde su natal Alemania. Hace 3 años llegó a Guatemala para unirse al Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés).
En un día soleado, llegan más de 2.000 personas al comedor comunitario de la Divina Providencia de la ciudad de Cúcuta, Colombia. La mayoría son migrantes provenientes de Venezuela.
