- - Ayer decenas de miles de personas en diferentes ciudades de todo el mundo, salieron a las calles para mostrar su apoyo a la labor del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) de las Naciones Unidas en su lucha, a escala global, contra el hambre.
Desde el 21 de septiembre y con el apoyo financiero de USAID por 3 millones de dólares, los beneficiarios están recibiendo transferencias de efectivo para comprar sus alimentos en comercios locales. El estipendio será entregado durante tres meses, por medio de dos entregas de efectivo realizadas por el WFP, a través de la red de socios proveedores de servicios financieros a escala nacional.
En una mañana soleada de septiembre de 2017, trabajadores humanitarios abordaron la avioneta del Servicio Aéreo Humanitario de las Naciones Unidas (UNHAS) para un vuelo de 50 minutos desde Antigua a Dominica.
Esta experiencia binacional, financiada por el Fondo de Adaptación, es la primera en su clase a nivel regional y beneficiará a 19.000 personas de 120 comunidades en la zona fronteriza colombo-ecuatoriana que pertenecen a las provincias de Esmeraldas, Carchi y Sucumbíos en Ecuador, y a los departamentos de Nariño y Putumayo en Colombia.
Con este proyecto, que durará cinco años y costará 14 millo
Tras la emergencia suscitada por la erupción del Volcán de Fuego el pasado 3 de junio, autoridades de gobierno habilitaron centros de acopio para almacenar alimentos y otros insumos humanitarios de primera necesidad.
Los niños, de entre 6 y 13 años, recibirán gachas enriquecidas especiales, a través del programa de comidas escolares de WFP respaldado por el Programa Nacional de Protección Social del Gobierno de Malaui. Se ha demostrado que una comida caliente en la escuela estimula la asistencia y mejora la capacidad de aprendizaje de los niños.
El anuncio de la contribución lo realizó hoy la Embajadora de Canadá en Nicaragua, Sra. Wendy Drukier, en una actividad realizada en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores en la que también participó la Directora Regional Adjunta del PMA, Sra.

(19 de agosto de 2008) -En el marco de la XIII Feria Internacional del Libro de La Paz, el Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) de las Naciones Unidas lanzó hoy el portal NUTRINET.ORG, cuyo objetivo es contribuir a hacer visible y accesible la información disponible que contribuya a la erradicación de la desnutrición en América Latina y en Bolivia, en particular.
La Reina Máxima participa en la visita a dos países africanos en su calidad de Representante especial del Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas para las Finanzas Inclusivas para el Desarrollo.
Esta planta procesadora está ubicada en la Asociación FUENTE DE VIDA en la comunidad de San Jerónimo y brindará servicios a siete organizaciones de pequeños productores locales que tienen en conjunto una capacidad productiva de 21 mil quintales de maíz y 2 mil 500 quintales de frijol por año.
