Comunicado de los directivos de WFP, ACNUR, UNICEF y OIMHoy el Programa Mundial de Alimentos, el Alto Comisionado de la ONU para los Refugiados, la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones y UNICEF han completado una operación de socorro urgente para proporcionar una ración de alimentos para un mes y suministros de higiene a más de 75.000 personas atrapadas en un descampado en la frontera
En su segunda edición, el índice de WFP llamado Contando los frijoles (Counting the Beans, en el original en inglés, http://www.wfp.org/plateoffood) abarca 52 países en desarrollo.
Según los últimos datos sobre seguridad alimentaria y las previsiones de los expertos gubernamentales y de Naciones Unidas , a principios de 2020 padecerán hambre cerca de 5,5 millones de personas.
Este es el peor brote de cólera en el mundo y ocurre en medio de la mayor crisis humanitaria del mundo. Sólo en los últimos tres meses se han registrado 400.000 casos sospechosos de cólera y cerca de 1.900 muertes asociadas.
“Queríamos sentirnos importantes, poder realizarnos como mujeres y no limitarnos por la falta de recursos”, comenta María Eulalia de 44 años, una de las fundadoras de la Asociación de Desarrollo Social Comunitario “La Elvira”.
Los fondos españoles ayudarán al Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés) a proporcionar la asistencia alimentaria que tanto necesitan los refugiados saharauis mediante la distribución de raciones alimentarias mensuales que incluyen cereales, legumbres, aceite vegetal, azúcar y alimentos compuestos enriquecidos.
Actualmente, 690 millones de personas se van a la cama con el estómago vacío. Pero tu donativo puede significar que al menos un niño no padecerá hambre esta noche.
