Los paquetes comprenden alimentos para siete días, consistentes en 10 libras de arroz, cinco libras de frijoles y dos litros de aceite vegetal y están destinados a las familias del municipio El Rama, Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Sur (RACCS), que sufrió fuertes inundaciones tras el impacto del huracán de categoría 1.
El “X Foro Regional de Alimentación Escolar para América Latina y el Caribe”, coorganizado por el Gobierno de México y el Programa Mundial de Alimentos de las Naciones Unidas (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés), proporcionará una plataforma para resaltar los avances significativos de los gobiernos en sus programas de comidas escolares.
“Este conflicto ha tenido un impacto tremendo en el pueblo sirio. Cada día, más y más sirios son empujados al hambre y la pobreza más profundas”, dijo Sean O’Brien, Representante del WFP y Director de País en Siria. “Las familias se enfrentan a opciones imposibles: ¿ponen comida en la mesa o reciben la atención médica que necesitan? ¿O pueden enviar a sus hijos a la escuela?
La presente guía, producto de un trabajo interagencial, aborda el problema sobre la calidad y oportunidad de las donaciones humanitarias. También rompe con algunos de los mitos más comunes entre quienes realizan donaciones generosas durante una emergencia. Qué donar y cuando donar son algunas de las preguntas que trata esta guía.

Un año después de la COVID-19 en Haití, los precios de los alimentos han seguido fluctuando mientras que los ingresos han disminuido constantemente.
