Los fondos españoles ayudarán al Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés) a proporcionar la asistencia alimentaria que tanto necesitan los refugiados saharauis mediante la distribución de raciones alimentarias mensuales que incluyen cereales, legumbres, aceite vegetal, azúcar y alimentos compuestos enriquecidos.

«Estos tres años de crisis han golpeado duramente a la población de República Centroafricana. Las familias se han visto a menudo obligadas a vender sus posesiones, sacar a sus hijos de la escuela, e incluso han tenido que recurrir a la mendicidad, han llegado a su límite.
Actualmente los funcionarios de la Dirección Agraria del Minagri recaban los precios de tubérculos, frutas, verduras, cereales, y otros por medio de una encuesta en papel. Las labores se desarrollan en 27 mercados del país.
Cuando la demanda de este servicio está llegando a su punto máximo, el mismo podría detenerse antes de finales de julio a menos que se pueda asegurar una financiación sustancial para mantener en movimiento la flota de transporte de WFP.
Desde el 21 de septiembre y con el apoyo financiero de USAID por 3 millones de dólares, los beneficiarios están recibiendo transferencias de efectivo para comprar sus alimentos en comercios locales. El estipendio será entregado durante tres meses, por medio de dos entregas de efectivo realizadas por el WFP, a través de la red de socios proveedores de servicios financieros a escala nacional.
