Años seguidos de sequías, huracanes, inundaciones y altas temperaturas han afectado los medios de vida (en especial la agricultura, la pesca y el turismo) y la seguridad alimentaria de las poblaciones más vulnerables de Centroamérica y el Caribe, que luchan por recuperarse de las consecuencias económicas de la COVID-19 y el impacto de la guerra en Ucrania en los precios mundiales de los alimentos.
Los significativos déficits de financiación en África del este y África del sur, así como en Oriente Medio, han obligado a reducir las raciones de algunas de las personas más vulnerables del mundo que dependen de los alimentos del WFP para sobrevivir. Solo en África del este, casi tres cuartas partes de los refugiados han visto sus raciones reducidas en hasta un 60%.
