El Foro, que tendrá lugar el 29 y 30 de abril, reunirá a profesionales e instituciones nacionales e internacionales –entre ellos del Centro de Excelencia contra el Hambre del PMA y del Gobierno de Brasil—con el objetivo de intercambiar experiencias en materia de alimentación escolar en Honduras y en la región. Gaza corre el riesgo de caer en la hambruna si no se restablece urgentemente el acceso a alimentos adecuados, agua potable y servicios de salud y saneamiento. Toda la población -unos 2,2 millones de personas- sufre niveles de inseguridad alimentaria de crisis o peores.
El sistema de salud se sigue debilitando progresivamente, con consecuencias catastróficas. A 19 de febrero, solamente seguían en funcionamiento, parcialmente, 12 de los 36 hospitales con capacidad de hospitalización. Desde el 7 de octubre se han producido más de 370 ataques contra la atención de salud en la zona.
Las enfermedades proliferan. La hambruna acecha. El agua escasea.
En los estados de Borno, Yobe y Adamawa en el noreste de Nigeria, el conflicto está afectando las vidas y los medios de subsistencia de millones de personas. 4,4 millones de personas se enfrentan al hambre aguda y 320.000 niños sufren desnutrición aguda.
Las últimas investigaciones muestran que alrededor de 735 millones de personas padecen hambre en la actualidad, en comparación con los 613 millones de 2019

Los programas de alimentación escolar bien diseñados e implementados sobre la base de una nutrición de origen local tienen un impacto positivo en la nutrición infantil y en la salud, en la asistencia escolar y el aprendizaje, en la productividad e ingresos de los pequeños agricultores, y en la creación de empleo y el desarrollo del sector privado.
La crisis alimentaria mundial es una convergencia de crisis concurrentes -causadas por los choques climáticos, conflictos y las presiones económicas- que ha hecho que el número de personas con hambre en todo el mundo pase de 282 millones a 345 millones en sólo los primeros meses de 2022.
