Mientras que la inseguridad alimentaria severa en la región se mantuvo prácticamente sin cambios, si se compara con febrero de 2022, ha habido un aumento significativo de los hogares que han caído en niveles moderados de inseguridad alimentaria. En general, el número de personas con inseguridad alimentaria ha aumentado en 1,3 millones en los últimos seis meses.
Años seguidos de sequías, huracanes, inundaciones y altas temperaturas han afectado los medios de vida (en especial la agricultura, la pesca y el turismo) y la seguridad alimentaria de las poblaciones más vulnerables de Centroamérica y el Caribe, que luchan por recuperarse de las consecuencias económicas de la COVID-19 y el impacto de la guerra en Ucrania en los precios mundiales de los alimentos.

El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) es gobernado por la Junta Ejecutiva del WFP, la cual forman 36 estados miembros y ofrece apoyo, dirección y supervisión intergubernamental a las actividades del WFP.
WFP se está viendo obligado a recortar drásticamente las raciones en la mayoría de sus operaciones a medida que la financiación humanitaria internacional cae en picada.
La Política del WFP en material de personal, aprobada en junio de 2021, proporciona un marco para la excelencia en la gestión de personas y para establecer la responsabilidad mutua entre la organización, sus directivos y todos sus empleados.
La Encuesta sobre seguridad alimentaria y medios de vida del Caribe, realizada conjuntamente por el Programa Mundial de Alimentos de las Naciones Unidas (WFP) y la Comunidad del Caribe (CARICOM), encontró que se estima que el 43 % de la población (o tres millones de personas) padece inseguridad alimentaria en 22 países y territorios.
