“Muchos de los países más frágiles del mundo, asolados por conflictos, inestabilidad y pobreza, son los más afectados por el cambio climático. La crisis climática no tiene por qué ser una crisis del hambre, pero eso es exactamente lo que está sucediendo”, afirmó la directora ejecutiva de WFP, Cindy McCain.
Sheeran, quien asumirá su nuevo cargo en abril al concluir su actual mandato como Directora Ejecutiva, ha dirigido el Programa Mundial de Alimentos desde el 2007, ayudando a víctimas de conflictos y desastres naturales en más de 70 países.

En Benín, Ghana y Honduras, se espera que el proyecto repercuta directamente en la vida de más de un millón de estudiantes. El proyecto también promoverá la producción local de alimentos, beneficiando a los pequeños agricultores, y proporcionará a los cocineros escolares información sobre nutrición óptima para los niños.
