El hambre en el mundo disminuyó por tercer año consecutivo en 2025, lo que demuestra que es posible avanzar. Sin embargo, las mejoras siguen siendo frágiles, están distribuidas de forma desigual y son insuficientes para alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible para 2030, según el informe «El estado de la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición en el mundo 2026» (SOFI 2026), publicado por cinco organismos de la ONU, entre ellos WFP.
El informe estima que el 7,8 % de la población mundial padeció hambre en 2025, lo que supone un descenso respecto al 8,1 % de 2024 y al 8,6 % de 2022, lo que confirma una mejora sostenida, aunque lenta. Esto significa que alrededor de 645 millones de personas se vieron afectadas por el hambre en 2025, lo que supone una reducción de casi 14 millones con respecto a 2024 y de 43 millones con respecto a 2022.
