“Las comidas escolares son más que un plato en la mesa”, apunta Laura Melo, directora de WFP en Venezuela. “Un plato de comida fresca, rica, servido en la escuela, es un incentivo para que niñas y niños en edad escolar inicial asistan y permanezcan en las aulas, a donde ellas y ellos pertenecen.
El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP) está almacenando 310 toneladas métricas de alimentos en la frontera de Gaza, listos para ser enviados a las personas que los necesitan desesperadamente, tan pronto como se conceda el acceso humanitario.
Extendiendo el apoyo de las comidas escolares más allá de Falcón a los estados Barinas, Trujillo y Yaracuy, el WFP aumentará gradualmente las raciones mensuales de alimentos que distribuye en 1.000 escuelas de educación preescolar y educación especial.
