Buffett ha anunciado hoy una expansión de su compromiso con la iniciativa ‘Compras para el Progreso’ (P4P, por sus siglas en inglés) del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) con un refuerzo de 13 millones de dólares durante cuatro años para ayudar a pequeños agricultores en comunidades rurales en Centroamérica.
“La gente del área de Paul Atrel es pobre, por lo que durante muchos años han talado árboles para hacer carbón”, dice el líder comunitario Emile Elinos.
El vuelo transportó 58 toneladas métricas de suministros que incluyen tanques de agua, unidades de limpieza, generadores, y despegó desde el Depósito de Respuesta Humanitaria de las Naciones Unidas (en inglés, UNHRD) de Bríndisi, Italia.
