Además de tener una presencia activa en el terreno, el Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés) en Colombia ha desarrollado estrategias de proximidad cultural para afianzar la confianza, y construir lazos de empatía y solidaridad entre su personal y las comunidades indígenas.

BRASILIA –El Programa Mundial de Alimentos de las Naciones Unidas (PMA) ha condecorado al Presidente de Brasil, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, como el “Campeón Mundial en la Lucha contra el Hambre” en reconocimiento a su visión y liderazgo en la lucha por erradicar el hambre y la desnutrición infantil en Brasil y en todo el mundo.
“La gente del área de Paul Atrel es pobre, por lo que durante muchos años han talado árboles para hacer carbón”, dice el líder comunitario Emile Elinos.
Al evento, que se llevó a cabo del 20 al 24 de mayo y que fue organizado por el Centro de Excelencia contra el Hambre del Programa Mundial de Alimentos y el Foro Global de Nutrición Infantil, en co patrocinio con el Gobierno del Brasil, asistieron los representantes de 38 países y más de 20 ministros de los sectores de Educación, Agricultura y Salud.
