Mi nombre es Ramasio Tiller Ipuana y soy administrador agropecuario, zootecnista y veterinario. En la actualidad soy el jefe de la oficina de terreno del WFP en Riohacha, departamento de La Guajira, Colombia.

Luego de los huracanes Eta e Iota en 2020, el Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP, por sus siglas en inglés), con apoyo del Gobierno de Canadá, distribuyó alimentos en la comunidad de Nueva Armenia, Honduras.
El manglar lo es todo para Rosa: “Sin manglar no hay vida para nosotros". Es su fuente de alimentación e ingresos y la de cientos de familias que recogen conchas y hacen pesca artesanal.
Mientras lee esto, 42,3 millones de personas en todo el mundo se encuentran al borde de la hambruna, mientras los conflictos, el cambio climático y la inestabilidad económica global se juntan para crear crisis de hambre en países de todo el mundo.
Aunque se ha avanzado en la acción colectiva para hacer frente a la inseguridad alimentaria, la evaluación realizada a finales de 2023 revela que la mitad de los hogares colombianos se encuentran en una situación de seguridad alimentaria marginal y podrían caer en inseguridad alimentaria por factores coyunturales, entre ellos el fenómeno de El Niño y de La Niña que generan variaciones en los cauce
“El suministro de alimentos y agua es prácticamente inexistente en Gaza y sólo una fracción de lo que se necesita llega a través de las fronteras. Con el invierno acercándose rápidamente, refugios inseguros y superpoblados y la falta de agua potable, los civiles se enfrentan a la posibilidad inmediata de morir de hambre", dijo Cindy McCain, directora ejecutiva de WFP.
“La crisis climática tiene el potencial de abrumar a la humanidad. El mundo no está preparado para un aumento sin precedentes del hambre que veremos si no invertimos en programas que ayuden a las comunidades vulnerables a adaptarse y hacerse resilientes a nuestro clima cambiante”, dijo el Director Ejecutivo del WFP, David Beasley.
