Se requieren fondos de inmediato para que WFP pueda satisfacer las crecientes necesidades de la población más afectada. Para el mes de enero, WFP planea duplicar la cifra de personas a las que presta asistencia, alcanzando los 4,1 millones de personas.

Las personas vulnerables, entre ellas mujeres, niños y ancianos, se llevan la peor parte de un conflicto extremadamente violento en el que decenas de grupos armados se disputan el territorio.
La mayoría de los visitantes que llegan a Lima se dirigen inmediatamente al sur hacia las místicas líneas de Nazca y los Andes, en busca de ruinas incas y alpacas esponjosas con pompones de colores brillantes.
Un número récord de personas ya padecía hambre en Sudán antes de que estallara el conflicto el 15 de abril. En 2023, WFP planeó ayudar a más de 7,6 millones de personas. Los enfrentamientos en curso impiden que el WFP entregue alimentos de emergencia, proporcione comidas escolares a los niños o prevenga y trate la desnutrición.
“Queríamos sentirnos importantes, poder realizarnos como mujeres y no limitarnos por la falta de recursos”, comenta María Eulalia de 44 años, una de las fundadoras de la Asociación de Desarrollo Social Comunitario “La Elvira”.
